Is a care role for me?

What is working in care about?

  • Working in social care is about providing personal and practical support to help people live their lives.
  • Working in health care is about supporting people with their health needs.

The social care and health care sector is one of the biggest employers. There are always lots of job vacancies and well over 300 different roles to choose from. The number of jobs in care are increasing – if you choose to work in a care role you’d never be out of a job!

How do I know if a care role is for me?

Most jobs in social care and health care which involve direct work or contact with people, require you to have an interest in people and qualities like being caring and having compassion.

Think about what motivates you and if you are someone who would enjoy a career in care?

Use the checklists and at the end you can decide whether to find out more about careers in care or look for a different kind of job.
